# Themes Review Guidelines

Dear designers, Please upload themes according to our guidelines:

It's recommended that you use a real device for testing before uploading themes, in order to fix the problems (if any) in time. Your themes will be reviewed after you upload. If you have any questions (such as: the theme hasn't been reviewed or released for a long time after uploading, etc.) in the review stage, please contact our operation manager by sending an email to mi-globaltheme@xiaomi.com.

Sign in to the designer site, upload the theme package, and upload the copyright certificate at the bottom of the page as shown below:

  1. Uploading instructions:
  • If you have the copyright certificate of the material image, compress the relevant files into a zip file and upload it.
  • If the material image is designed by yourself, compress the original source file certificate into a zip file for upload it.
  • If the materials are obtained from the free and publicly authorized material library, compress related descriptions, image sources, website URLs, commercial agreements, and other documents into a zip file and upload it.

# Material content

  1. It's forbidden to upload non-original, official, plagiarized, and infringed materials.
  2. It's forbidden to upload materials containing unauthorized animations, cartoons, games, movies, celebrities, stickers, etc.
  3. It's forbidden to upload materials containing sports team logos, car logos, trademarks, etc.
  4. It's forbidden to upload iOS and copycat iOS (style, icons, interfaces), as well as other platforms' system icons, wallpapers, interfaces (copycat icons, wallpapers, interfaces), etc.
  5. It's forbidden to upload sensitive materials related to pornography, violence, and politics.
  6. It's forbidden to upload materials containing sexually explicit content.

# Basic theme information

  1. Copyright documents: Copyright certificates (original source files, copyright certificates, relevant authorization certificates, source of materials, whether they are commercial) are required for all uploaded themes.
  2. Theme name:
  • The theme name you entered must be consistent with the file name in the theme package, and "My theme" can't be used as the name.
  • Description of OS, features, promotions, and advertisements (such as: dynamic lock screen, XXX icon version, 3D special effects, V10/V11 version) can't be used in the name.
  • It's not allowed to include the name of Xiaomi related products (such as: Xiaomi, MIUI, XIAOMI, etc.)
  • Sensitive words related to vulgarity, abuse, pornography, politics, violence and so on are not allowed.
  1. Designer name:
  • The "Default" name is not allowed.
  • Inappropriate elements (such as anti-social, pornographic, etc.) are not allowed.
  • It's not allowed to include the name of Xiaomi related products (such as: Xiaomi, MIUI, XIAOMI, etc.)
  • Sensitive words related to vulgarity, abuse, pornography, politics, violence and so on are not allowed.
  1. Theme package size: Can't exceed 80M
  2. Keywords: Enter the keywords that fit the theme style
  3. Theme description: The description content must fit the theme, and it's not allowed to include the name of Xiaomi related products (such as: Xiaomi, MIUI, XIAOMI, etc.). You can write down your personal social media account. When filling in the changelog, you need to clearly specify what you have updated.
  4. Note: If you need to upload screenshots or have related questions, please add remarks.

# Lock screen

  1. The lock screen notification text is visible, the width is appropriate, and the corresponding app can be launched normally by tapping.
  2. The lock screen wallpaper is displayed normally, fits the highest resolution models, and the materials are not stretched, compressed, or cropped.
  3. During updating, the lock screen wallpapers should be consistent with the online wallpapers.
  4. The lock screen has smooth animation effect, no freeze, and no obvious delay when switching pages. The multi-functional lock screen needs to ensure that the features are smooth and available.
  5. The lock screen can be easily unlocked.
  6. Lock screen clock (follows the hour system changes set in the system clock by default, and supports 12-hour system as well as 24-hour system), date, week and other information are displayed correctly.
  7. Don't add external URLs to the lock screen feature.
  8. Ensure the overall style of the lock screen is consistent.
  9. Don't upload themes with a password of the lock screen.
  10. Clocks, feature buttons, shortcut keys, or text information, etc. are prohibited in the fingerprint unlocking area; fingerprint icons can't be hidden.
  11. (1) If the camera icon is displayed in the lower right corner (similar to the system default effect), the way to enter the camera must be consistent with the system.

(2) If the camera icon is displayed in another location (not the lower right corner of the screen), the designer should judge whether the method of entering the camera is difficult to learn. If the method is reasonable and won't make user feel confused, designers can add remarks when uploading their themes, we will review and decide whether to release such themes.

# Home

  1. The home wallpaper is displayed normally, fits the highest resolution models, and the materials are not stretched, compressed, or cropped.
  2. During updating, the home wallpapers should be consistent with the online wallpapers.
  3. Home icons are clear and easy to identify, as well as meeting the amount requirement in the "Theme Adaptation Standard" for icons that need to be adapted.
  4. Home clock (follows the hour system changes set in the system clock by default, and supports 12-hour system as well as 24-hour system), date, week and other information are displayed correctly.
  5. Home shortcut icons are clear, text is not misplaced, etc. If you need to redesign them, the style needs to be consistent with the common icon style.
  6. The buttons at the bottom of the screenshot editing interface are clearly visible.
  7. The volume adjustment interface fonts, buttons, progress bar, etc. are clearly visible.
  8. White line icons of App vault, app permission management, dual apps and other interface icons need to be easy to identify.
  9. Themes containing third-party filters, masks, etc. that cause the third-party icons to be unrecognizable won't be released.
  10. The effective area of the home clock should not be too large to avoid accidental touch.

Note: The time display area should be tappable to enter the Clock app. Weather and Calendar app should also be tappable in a similar way. And the range of the tapping area needs to be reasonably controlled.

# Global modules (such as the Notification shade, Recents, Phone, Messaging, Settings, etc.)

Ensure that the icons and text are clear and easy to recognize; the features work normally; the design style is consistent; and the materials are not stretched or deformed;

  1. Avoid inconsistent design style legends:
  2. The spacing at the top of the Notification shade is not allowed to be modified, and it must be the same as the default Notification shade spacing, otherwise the search icon will be blocked on the Redmi K30 model;

# Theme Tag Guidlines

Dear designers, Please add theme tags according to our guidelines:

  1. Don't add tags that are not related to your work;
  2. Don't add duplicate or similar tags;
  3. Add theme tags based on 3 aspects: visual style, content involved, and theme features;
  4. It's recommended to add 1-2 style tags and 3-6 content tags. The feature tags should be added according to the actual features of the theme (the amount is not limited).

Q&A：

  • Why are the tags required? What are the benefits for designers?

    Tags are very important for the personalized recommendations of apps. Accurate tags can get you more traffic and clicks, and get good user feedback;

  • Why are the duplicate tags not allowed?

    If there are tags having the same meaning, adding one is enough. Similar tags will affect the accuracy of recommendation algorithm; no need to worry about the problem of keyword searching, we will use another mapping relationship for keywords;

  • Why are the content tags important? Why should I add more content tags than style tags?

    Based on the tag tree, there are a lot of similar theme styles in the theme library currently, so the content is the key to making the work outstanding;

  • Why is the number of tags limited?

    The number of tags is calculated based on the existing tag library. While showing the characteristics of the theme, the most important thing is that the tags can match the theme content and doesn't duplicate.

  • Can the designer name and theme name be added in the tags?

    No, you can't. the designer name and theme name are already in a set of theme tags, so it's no need to add such tags additionally. Otherwise it will increase the difficulty of identification by the recommendation algorithm.

# Penalty Standard

  • In order to standardize the relevant behaviors of designers in the theme market and guarantee the principle of fair competition, we have begun to implement this Penalty Standard according to different types of violations. Details are as follows:

  • Plagiarism: For themes that plagiarize online themes and other platform themes (part of the components, materials, etc.), the themes will be removed and the designer will be banned for 1 month. If it brings bad influence, the designer will be permanently banned;

  • Designers who plagiarized online themes or other platform themes will be permanently banned when they are reported twice or two sets of themes are reported;

  • If the plagiarism caused serious consequences and media complains, the designer will be permanently banned;

  • Infringement: Designers who infringed the copyright of other people or other companies will be permanently banned when they are reported twice;

  • Review: New themes and theme updates that have been repeatedly uploaded without bug fixes won't be approved;

  • Themes that do not comply with the visual review specifications won't be approved;

  • Designers uploading themes that contain anti-social, anti-human, and content that violates relevant laws and regulations will be permanently banned;

  • Other: Designers who abuse official staff or slander the Theme app through emails or other official channels will be permanently banned;

  • Designers who seriously violate the relevant regulations of the platform or cause serious impact on the platform will be permanently banned.
